Who can apply for a grant?

Young people under 25 who live or attend school within 5 miles of Norwich City Hall, and whose parents or guardians cannot afford the educational costs they are facing.

What types of grants do you offer?

We support a wide range of educational needs, including grants towards:

• School uniform costs
• School trips and residentials
• Music, dance, drama or gym lessons
• University or further education expenses

If you’re unsure whether your request qualifies, you can still apply — the Trustees review each case individually.

How do I apply?

Complete the relevant application form on our website and provide any supporting information requested. If you need help completing the form, you can contact us for guidance.

Is parental income means tested?

Yes. All applications are means tested, and you will be asked to provide information about household income and expenditure so the Trustees can assess financial need. This helps ensure grants are awarded to families who need them most.

Do you fund school residential trips?

Yes. We offer grants towards over-night or multi-night residential trips when they are part of a school programme and the family cannot meet the cost.

How much funding can I receive?

Grant amounts vary depending on need, circumstances, and available funds. As resources are limited, awards may only cover part of the total cost.

How long does a decision take?

Applications are reviewed by the Trustees at their quarterly meetings. These usually take place in February, May, August and November, although dates may occasionally vary. Applicants will be contacted shortly after each meeting with details of the outcome.

Do you fund ongoing lessons or activities?

We can support activities such as music, dance, drama or gym lessons, but grants are typically awarded for a specific period rather than long term ongoing funding.

Can schools apply on behalf of a student?

No. Applications must be completed by the parent or guardian. However, schools are welcome to support families by helping them fill in the form or providing information needed for the application.

What evidence do I need to provide?

You may be asked to provide proof of costs, details of the activity or expense, and information about financial circumstances to help the Trustees assess your application.

Can I apply more than once?

You can apply for school uniform grants every two years. For all other types of grants, you may apply once per academic year.
